Wondering if it's OK to create this post to collect ideas or guesses for commemorative coins releases for 2016 and 2017. Would others be interested to post here? It be nice if this post could be pinned as well. Maybe, there is already a post where such items need to be posted. This can be deleted as necessary.

Veer Savarkar and Nanaji Deshmukh are highly likely. Don't see any reasons not to issue them!

In 2008, after his second assembly election win in 2007, Mr. Narendra Modi, current Prime Minister of India, wrote a book in Gujarati titled 'Jyotipunj' (Beams of Light) in which he retold the life stories of 16 men who inspired him.
Does any one have the list of those 16 persons?
They may get covered in next 3 - 4 years.

Looks like Nabakalebar got canned ...

These are suggested by state governments.
Many time, they are again sent when asked for fresh suggestions.
Once listed in agenda, they linger on for few years.
1000 years of coronation of Rajendra Chola is still in the list although it was suggested three years back, around the same time as S Radhakrishnan.

Now the mint also is very active since the coins released but not issued form a good source of revenue by way of sets. The sets are opened for booking almost along with release. They have a big database of set buyers who are sent booking open marketing literature by electronic media.

2016 will have more releases than 2015.

Not quite sure where the official government communication resides. There is none to be found on the interwebs. BHU Centenary coin release seems certain, just no announcement from the concerned ministries yet (Prime Minister's Office, Finance, Culture or Human Resource Development). As soon as such information is made available, it will be posted on the above thread. Looking forward to this coin and others in 2016.
