The two Tillicoultry societies merged in 1905 as Tliicoultry Co-operative Society.

The society became part of the Forth Valley Group, formed in 1969. Tillicoultry joined with Clackmannan and Sauchie in 1972 to form Devon Valley. The societies in Forth Valley Group merged to form Forth Valley Co-operative in 1979. Forth Valley joined with Fife Regional and Central Fife at the beginning of 1987 to form Fife and Forth. However Fife Regional was heavily in debt, so the society had to be rescued by a CWS takeover in June 1988. The Tillicoultry HIgh Street store was closed as part of the consolidation

TILLICOULTRY CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY 1840-1972

The society was formed in 1840. The society did business with the Central Co-operative Agency in the early 1850s. It registered with the name Tillicoultry Co-operative Store. The society changed its name to Tillicoultry Co-operative Society in early 1894.

The information from Freuchie suggests that due to a shortage of farthings, the first tokens were produced as a farthing to be used by members for transactions in the store.
