Voorburg was a refuge for the rich of The Hague. A luxury dwelling with a fruit garden and a pleasure garden called Overburg is first mentioned in 1731, but it may just have changed name and be older.

It also changed function. By 1828 it was a farm, owned by Jacobus Dirk de Raadt (1845-1924), who had lived on Overburg on and off since 1872. In 1882, he had 32 dairy cows, one of the largest herds in Voorburg. Photo: the farm around 1920 - city archive Leidschendam-Voorburg. In 1925, their oldest son, Jacob Gerrit (1872-1936) sold the farm to the city of Voorburg and leased it back. He had a milk shop in Paradijsstraat in Den Haag. By that time, the farm had an address: Prinses Mariannelaan 84a. Shortly before Jacob Gerrit died, the city of Voorburg ended the lease. The farm was demolished in 1932 and the land became an urban part of Voorburg. Nearby Prinses Mariannelaan, a street is named after the farm: Overburgkade.

Jacob Gerrit's youngest son, Engelbertus was born in 1912. He ran a milk shop in Voorburg and married Erna, sister or Hermann Göring in 1938.

It is likely that Jacob Gerrit issued the token. It may have served in the family milk shops, rather than on the farm.
