Mysore, Krishna Raja Wodeyar, Gold 1/2 Pagodas
1.6 to 1.7 grams
Obv: Lord Shiva and Parvati, Rev: Devanagari Legend "Sri Krishna Raja"
Not listed in KM

Two similar, but still distinct, designs.
The obverse and the reverse are the same as in the full pagodas.
Full pagodas are quite common, but half pagodas are extremely rare.

The first one is from my collection and the second one is from a recent auction that quickly became too costly :).

Must be a very tiny piece at that weight in Au. Nice one.

The pointilist bodies became a trend on colonial coins of the area. I never handled a ½ pagoda, but even the pagoda's are very small. It is impressively to see the clear writing on such a small surface.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
