Law is a village about 3km from Carluke that developed from the 1790 in association with coal mining with the last main mine closing before 1940. Law Hospital, based on nissen huts, was built in 1939 as part of a programme of Emergency Medical Centres for use during World War II. It closed in 2001 when Wishaw Hospital was opened. A railway station, Law Junction Railway Station, was opened in 1880 that closed in 1965.
LAW CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY 1880-1955
The society was established by nine men in 1880.
The society joined nearby Carluke in 1955.
