India, 1 rupee 1995
« on: May 21, 2011, 03:33:09 PM »
Hi

http://cgi.ebay.in/ONE-RUPEE-NOTE-SIGNED-MONTEK-SINGH-AHULIWALIA-1995-/250822065773?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3a6628fe6d

Item was in queue for 25000 INR!  no reasons were mentioned.

Any clues on why this was priced this high ?

The printing of 1 rupee note was stopped in 1994. The last 1 rupee notes were printed in 1994, with the signatures of Montek Singh Ahluwalia. All the catalogues mention the last note to be printed in 1994, and there is no record whatsoever for 1 rupee note of 1995.

I don't know if this note is genuine or fake. But if by any chance, it is genuine, than the price of Rs. 25000 is because only very few notes must have been printed in 1995, if at all they were printed. 1994 notes are easily available.

The high price for this note is only due to the year 1995.

issue 20 of Gullak had a short note on the current market prices of the notes. It lists notes only till 1994 signed by M S Ahluwalia, with B.

I can not see the date properly even after magnification and the seller has a no return policy.
