Dam Aurangzeb Alamgir or Alamgir II ?
« on: April 22, 2010, 08:20:54 PM »
Hello
probably the mint is Elichpur but I'm not very satisfied of the weight (lighter for a Dam type).

These are two possibility:

Aurangzed Alamgir - 1 Dam KM 286.1 - AH1078/1X (taken from Krause 1601-1700)
Aziz ud din Alamgir II - 1 Dam KM 450.3 - AH1167/X (taken from Krause 1701-1800)

Weight is 14.576 grams
Diameter is 21.8 x 18.2 mm
Thick is 5.7 mm

Would not the weight corrospond to that of a Paisa rather than a Dam?

Yes asm, the weight is more similar to 1 paisa or 1/2 dam (but are heavy for the standard weight) than 1 dam.
