This was described as "Elizabeth I Tudor Hammered Silver Penny Cross Crosslet Mint Mark 1560-61 2nd Issue".

The diameter is about 14mm and weight 0.48g.

E.D.G. ROSA SINE SPINA (a rose without a thorn)

The cross-crosslet mmk (above effigy) dates it to 1560-61 as that mark was used only in those years under Eliz I.

Catalogue ref. is S2558.

The coins of Elizabeth I are not too expensive if you forgo the higher values and they are fun to collect. Each of them may have been handled by Shakespeare.
