I hope that this index will be useful.   The main topic was growing fast and it was impossible to keep the illustrations in date order so hopefully this will help you find them.

I have tried to give sub-headings for different varieties which should help with recognition and I will try to build this up as I learn more, but the subject is new to me.   The list also shows (by omission of a red entry) which types/years have not yet been illustrated.   To make the indexing more effective, it will help if only one year is posted at a time.

To those who have contributed to the illustrations and comments, thank you very much.   There's still some to be covered and I hope that we may be able to 'get the full set'.

Drawing up the index took quite a lot of work and is based on a large 'Word' document which I copy/paste after updating it.   I have chosen the particular format because it is the clearest way to show it on my original document.   Some of the descriptions are 'from the book' and others I have made up to try to describe the coin in a few words to aid recognition.   I hope that you find it satisfactory.

Again, thank you all, and keep those pictures coming.

I've just updated the list again.

As you will see, there are still plenty of years which still need illustrations.   If you can, please add them to 5/- The British Crown, Part 1 which is for the pre-decimal ones.

I'm going to start an index for the Decimal ones (25p and £5) soon, but of course this will appear in the Decimal section.
