This is another stunning Rupee from Shah Jahan's reign.

RY year 13 is visible at 11"Oclock in the first image. AH, year is visible in a split version on the other side.

Indeed, good fun coin, jaspersaini. Looking at it, I noted several contradictions. There's the weight, suggesting strict control, and the shroff marks, suggesting distrust. There's the perfectly islamic-looking calligraphy and the flowers, the stern squares and the frivolous knots in their corners. Maybe it's all harmony if you think of Shah Jahan as the powerful ruler who gets what he wants, but at the same time a spendthrift, lovesick romantic? Perhaps contradictions make us more human.
