Interesting coin with lots of details, to ID...
« on: February 04, 2021, 10:23:38 PM »
Hello everybody...

I would like to ID this coin... I checked Zeno for "Trident/Trisul/Trishul" coins and nothing matches...

Here's what I know about it: 1.4g / 12-13mm / Copper...

Sorry, actually I have no clue about the orientation of this coin's (either side)...

Thank you in advance...!!! =))

A friend from Numista site suggested that the "tirdent/trisul" on my coin above could an Arabic "word/letter" just like in on this one:  https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=249677

Any ideas/thoughts...?!?! :)

Not far out mti, your coin may read:
Ottoman, Sultan Mustafa III, Date?, AE Manghir, Tarablus Gharb ("Western Tripolis", Libya) mint (AH 1171-1187/1757-1774 AD)
Obverse (First photo):
(السلطان ( مصطفى, al-Sultan Mustafa (only al-Sultan is visible)
Reverse (Second photo):
ضرب في طرابلس غرب سنه   , Zarb fi-Tarablus Gharb sanah, struck in "Western Tripolis" year ?. The date is not visible.
Tripoli, Libya, historically Tarablus al-Gharb ("Western Tripolis"), while, Tripoli, Lebanon, historically Tarablus al-Sham ("Eastern Tripolis").

Coin collecting has a curious name. It is also called the "Hobby of Kings".
