Mysore AE Paisa, Tipu Sultan, Faiz Hisar mint, AM 1222
« on: January 30, 2021, 12:39:28 PM »
I present here a Paisa from the kingdom of Mysore, Faiz Hisar mint with the year AM 1222 (AD 1793). The special feature of the coin is that the Malaudi year is read from left to right. This apparently occurred on early coins of Tipu Sultan. The KM#43.3 shows the spelling from right to left. However, I have not found a comparable piece in any catalogue. I am therefore unsure whether this could be a forgery. Can anyone give me helpful hints on this?

mauludi year is read from right to left not left to right , Hijri is actually read from left to right.

On the coin it is mauludi but struck the other way (hijri way), looks an error but the coin looks fine.
