Akbar dam AH983 Dogaon
« on: February 14, 2020, 10:33:48 PM »
Here is another copper coin of Akbar - I found the inscriptions on this one difficult as it appears that some of the letters have odd shapes (or so I hope).  For example, on the obverse, the gaf (g) in Dogaon looks more like a waw to me.  On the reverse, there is a strange horizontal bar above the sin (s) in hastad.  Comparing this coin with others I tried to fill in the overlay with a more accurate letter form even though that is not exactly how it was engraved.

Details on the coin:  20mm, 20.67 gm, AH983 Dogaon mint, KM#28.18, cf Zeno #58662.

Corrections and comments welcome as always.

I'll second that and add that the picture is wonderfully clear also.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
