Dehli sultanate, Firuz Shah Zafar, BI 1/2 Tanka, D552, S
« on: January 28, 2020, 02:59:21 PM »
Hi,
A son of Firuz Shah Tughlaq, Firuz Shah Zafar is not recorded in the written histories and is known only from his coinage. His coins were minted in the year AH 791. Apparently during the civil war across the Tughlaq clan after the death of Firoz Shah Tughlaq, he minted his coins for a very short period from Dehli. His son Abu Bakr Shah later captured the throne by defeating Ghiyas-ud-Din Tughluq II.
Attaching a billon 1/2 Tanka, in the name of Caliph Abu'Abd Allah,
Obv: Firuz Shah Zafar ibn Firuz Shah,
Rev: Abu'abd Allah khulidat khilafatuhu,
5.37g, 15.5mm, G&G # D552
Thanks,
Saikat

A beautiful coin with a lovely overlay. Thanks for sharing.

Though as per GG it's mentioned as scare but in actual it's not visible quite often.

Exceptionally nice picture of a wonderful historic document with an overlay that lowers the threshold to understanding this coin. Thank you, Saikat!
