Unidentified counterstamp on George III Halfpenny
« on: March 17, 2019, 01:41:32 PM »
I have a 1806 George III halfpenny coin with an unidentified counterstamp of hare? running to the left. Any information about this counterstamp will be appreciated!

There is something underneath the animal. On the enlargement it looks like grass (which would give the perspective to confirm that it is a hare), on the picture of the whole coin it looks like letters.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

My best guess would be a rural pub.
