Morocco issued a new design series in 1987.

All the  coins were produced in Morocco.


Above is the reverse of the aluminium 1 santim coin.

It featured a tuna fish in a net.

This was officially a FAO-themed design.

The 5, 10 and 20 santimat coins were all made of aluminium-bronze.

The reverse of the 5 santimat coin featured an ear of wheat

The ½ dirham and 1 dirham coins featured a portrait of King Hassan on the obverse.

The coat of arms now moved to the reverse.

The year and the denomination were shown alongside it.

The 1 dirham coin featured the standard portrait of the king.
