Hello,

Here is a Lora Del Rio 25 Centimos struck during Spanish civil war, weight is 3.42 grams.

As this type has been counterfeit I wonder if I got here a fake or an authentic specimen ?

Here a link on the J.Ovelleiro book about Spanish civil war coinage with pictures of the fakes https://es.slideshare.net/Mercadation/monedas-durante-la-ii-repblica-y-guerra-civil-espaola-13823124

Please note that the specimen pictured on Numista is a fake according to J.Ovelleiro book (the first fake with a different shape for "5") link on Numista coin https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces69249.html

Most of the "authentic" coins for sale on Ebay looks like mine but I wonder if they are not all examples of the second fake of J.Ovelleiro book (different distance for crown and tree) see here https://www.ebay.fr/itm/AUTENTICA-Guerra-civil-25-Centimos-AYUNTAMIENTO-LORA-DEL-RIO-Sevilla-3-44-gr/202236885892?hash=item2f1641fb84:g:NEoAAOSwawpXtNm2

The NGC example seems also similar to mine see here https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/spain-civil-war-lora-del-rio-25-centimos-km-1-cuid-1083369-duid-1518126

Thank you

I got some news about the J.Ovelleiro book : the second fake pictured for Lora del Rio doesn't appears as a fake coin on the last edition and my coin is authentic according to new pictures and criteras...

Congratulations. A highly interesting coin.

The civil war issues are quite desirable, but they are indeed marred by fakes. It's good to have a guide on the fakes, but slightly worrying that a fake can become genuine in the next edition. I see the author's dilemma: either publish and make mistakes or not publish and help fraudsters. There is no good solution.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
