Humayun, AR Shahrukhi, Lahore? (please help confirm mint)
« on: October 19, 2015, 09:49:14 PM »
Mughals, Humayun
AR Shahrukhi
Lahore?

1. Please help confirm the mint. I think I can make out the mint name (2nd image)??
2. Can the date be seen on this coin at all? Is this a date-less type?
3. A good reference for Humayun coins?

Thanks!

It's well a shahrukhi of Lahore mint , but what looks like the beginning of the mintname at top is a part of "al-sultan al-'azam".
The mintname is in fact at bottom "...sultanah zarb La(hore).." , parts of this legend are seen on your coin, but no date visible...

Humayun (AH 937-947, 1530-1540 AD), Silver Shahrukhi, 4.79g, Lahore Mint, obv. kalima within circle, rev. name of the ruler in mihrab-shaped cartouche with clear mint-name at bottom.
