Akbar dam and damri- Si wa Shash
« on: April 17, 2015, 11:43:45 PM »
Hi,
This is a very rare pair of dam and damri of Delhi mint. The speciality is both the dates are written in words as well as numerals.
The legend on the coin reads Zarb falus Delhi on obverse and ilahi 36 and si wa shash on reverse. Si wa shash literally means 36. So ilahi date is mentionedin words as well as numerals. I remember Saro (bernard sir) posting a dam
Enjoy!

A scarce pair of coins !  :applause:
Dams with Ilahi 36 followed by the date in words (instead of persian month) are rare and it seems that the damri are excessively rare...

Yes, I posted a dam of this type (it was, I think, in a thread started by Amit showing one  ???) but I am not able to recover the post on WoC....

Thanks a lot Bernard sir.. This is a rare set indeed.. I even have a similiar set in si wa panj.. However unlike si wa panj coins which occurs consistently in ilahi 35.
But in ilahi 36, both si wa shash as well as ilahi months are found...
