Slight correction , it is only Akbarpur not Akbarpur Tanda.

Cheers ;D

Thank you! I blame the error in attribution to Mr Valantine  ;D. He grouped all in Akabarpur Tanda.
Thanks,
Saikat

Well with limited resource what Mr Valantine did was excellent. With the passage of time it keeps on improving with additional knowledge gained over the period.

No disrespect to Valentine meant! But I should have checked the SAC where the id 28.5 is against Akbarpur.
Thanks,

Akbarpur and Akbarpur Tanda are 2 different places.. Tanda is well established as a place in U.P and served as capital of bengal  during Akbar's campaign.. The other Akbarpur is not established yet but 2 probable candidates for this mint place is a place near Agra and other in Rajasthan. The calligraphy is completely different thereby an indication to the different sites of this mint. The dates found on Akbarpur are 981Ah and I have in my collection a rare date of 982Ah in Akbarpur while Tanda dates to 986Ah

Yes Sir! I looked up the Catalogue of Coins in the Punjab Museum Lahore-II by Whitehead and it says
Quote
There are coins of Akbar bearing the mint-names of Akbarpur,
and Akbarpur Tanda. The legends are different in style and arrangement,
and it is probable that they belong to two different mints........

The locality of Akbarpur is doubtful. There is an Akbarpur at
the junction of the Rivers Jamna and Chambal, and another Akbarpur
in the Cawnpore District p. 18 of Jadunath Sarkar's India of
Aurangzeb. On p. cxii of the same work, an important ferry over
the Narbada River is mentioned, called Akbarpur.
And also pointed out the location of Akbarpur Tanda as
Quote
AKBARPUR TANDA
Lat. 26 25' Long. 82 34'....

This mint-town has been identified with the Akbarpur near Tanda in the Faizabad District of Oudh.

I should have checked this document also before :-). Nevertheless this is my first Akbarpur coin so not a big loss for me. I will wait for the elusive Tanda.
Thank you,
Saikat
