Wonderful Amit. Always a pleasure to view your magic that brings the otherwise mundane script to life.

Are you sure the word is "Quarani" and not "Qiran" (as per published catalogues)?

Probably "Quiran Sani". I could not find a "Sa" (could be off-flan), so I wrote "Quirani". It definitely ends in a "ye" though.

Thanks Amit.

I've usually seen the legend described as "Sahib-i-Qiran-sani"

Yes. On this coin, you can see "sa" (of "sani") inside the curve of the "noon" (it is also written after the "noon" on some coins), but (maybe because the letters are mostly off-flan) I couldn't spot the same on this one.

This is my specimen of same ruler same mint.
AH1047/RY11

Figleaf

More specimen of the same type are always helpful, especially when they are as nice as yours above. This one also has the left part outside the square on the right picture largely off-flan. One day, we will find an answer to the discussion above, though: one legend variety or two?

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
