Farrukhsiyar. Paisa. Mint: Ahmednagar. RY 7
« on: August 20, 2014, 11:54:45 AM »
A paisa of Ahmednagar Mint in the name of Mughal emperor Farrukhsiyar. RY 7.

While the rupees of Farrukhsiyar of most mints are not too difficult to get, the copper coins are difficult.

Can some one help read the full legend? What I can read is:

Obv: Sikka ba(d)shah Farrukhsiyar. Rev: Zarb (sanah) 7 Ahmednagar.

At least I can confirm the 7 :)

The coin has been wiped on the surface, leaving much dirt and oxide down below and an unnatural colour above. I'd suggest ultrasound ar a soapy bath to remove the dirt and a long olive oil bath, with periodic light rubbing of the lower parts to lighten the oxides and darken the shiny parts.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
