Why would some one want to silver a coin which is not of a type i circulation and unlike the fine silver rupees, a very crude coin? My only thought is that the silvering would have been done very recently........

Maybe a cheap alternative for a silver coin for ceremonies? I remember an old film, in which, every time there is a wedding, the hero goes into his cellar, plucks a piece of glass from an old chandelier and, with moist eyes and trembling voice, presents it to the bride to be as an old family heirloom he wants her to have for the wedding. :D

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
