Cleaned, low grade but uncommon 1788 5 kopek

This is a rather uncommon 5 kopek despite it's low grade. Can you guess what makes this rather scarce?

Which mint is/was TM ?
always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

Hello gxseries.

Regarding the TM mint mark, I believe it refers to Feodesia, Crimea...in use from 1787-1788.

Yes, it's from Tauric mint. It's not an easy coin to find and this will be my filler for a while. :)

Hi, gx series.

We have all had our share of "Fillers" until the right coin comes along. That's part of the joy of collecting. I always thought that half the joy was in the hunt.
