True! What the Ashoka column is for Indians, the Taj Mahal is for the rest of the world. Then again, there is AFAIK no British coin for the Tower of London...

yes an awesome observation,  now i feel a bit stupid (how could i not notice it!!!), the ashoka pillar has adorned every indian coin since 1950
