I was talking to a little birdie from treasury about 2012 coinage.
I was instructed that the only circulating coins for 2012 were, "A truckload of ten cent pieces downstairs," awaiting his authorisation to New Zealand Post in regards release for circulation.
So the only coins for 2012 should be the 10 cent piece that was not scheduled to be released until the Christmas week or the first month of this year.
So I question the validity of my information.
Has anyone any knowledge or seen 2012 coinage in circulation?

Not yet but will keep an eye out :-)

We normally only get one or two denominations issued for circulation each year, pretty much on a rotating basis.  Because of low annual requirements the RBNZ tends to order about three years' worth of each denomination at a time so they don't need to order any more for another few years.

Thank you that puts a more sensible light on the subject.
I actually had a question in regards to legal tender for 10 c pieces in New Zealand , but I found the answer myself just after posting it.
So this is my edited version.
You can offer up to $5 of them for tender.
If anyone else ever wanted to know.
