Akbar Square Rupee, Tatta, KM-88.7
« on: April 09, 2012, 06:27:51 AM »
I bought this coin as a Akbar Rupee. Year 48 month Khurdad. Mint-name Tatta. KM-88.7.
I find square rupees of Akbar very beautiful. Can someone help me understand the obverse.
Also please confirm the attribution and let me know how you like this coin.
Show me the ones you have in your collection.

Thanks
Bhushan

Correct attribution, but the reverse is depicted upside down.
For similar coins you may have look at these.

Jan,thanks a lot. I will try and fix the picture this evening. I really could not figure out any thing on the reverse hence the mistake.  :(
Looks like the die was way large in case of this coin. Is there a book which shows the depiction of the whole die on Akbar's square rupees?
