USSR Rouble 1978 Y#153.1 and Y#153.2 wrong clock
« on: November 27, 2011, 12:23:35 PM »
In the same lot as the suspicious 50 Kp. 1907 was a rouble 1978.
I knew there was something to do with the clock, so I checked it with the one in my collection.
Now they both seem to have the wrong clock ....
Or am I wrong here ?

I tried to make a descent scan ..... I helped it a bit with some red lines  :)

The wrong clock looks more rare than the right one in Krause .... so I was surprised to have 2 of the rarer type ...

Thanks, Paul.

Mine has the wrong clock also.

I scanned at 1200dpi, saved at 80% JPEG quality (Good) and got a 184k file. Restricting file size to 64k gave this result.

So far, 4 out of 5 have the wrong clock ....

Is Krause wrong (again)  :(

I have both...  I got the "error" one a year or so before I got the "normal" one....

The Schon world coin catalogue lists the "error" one as being slightly cheaper than the "normal" one.

I would say that SCWC should use their lower pricing for both of these. (Proof value unaffected).

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

Is the coin better struck or the picture sharper? On mine, the 6 is invisible.

EXCELLENT scan, Gerard! :) How did you take it? Using a scanner or a digital camera?
