This decade there has been quite a bit of interest in fake coins for circulation ... i think the motivation is that is easy to produce and circulate ... less chances of getting caught ... this looks the first time a fake coin with Rupee design is caught ... anyone has images for reference

The Anglo Saxon Chronicle AD.1125 tells us the penalty for counterfeiting 'they were deprived each of them of the right hand, et testiculis infra'.

Hi...

@kansal888 .....Sanjay a good effort to educate the unsuspecting collectors....the main reason for the fakes flourishing is that the collector after buying the coins does not either show or discuss the possession with other collectors due to the fear that they may negatively comment on it......the collector secretly keeps it till his demise without knowing it is a fake he has got...I have known a case from South India (a lady with enough disposable income) from a  coin seller who used to sell high priced  fake ancient coins obtained from Bombay to this lady (he confessed to me when he was alive ).....his philosophy being that if the buyer is happy why should he educate  them and be a spoil sport....

A question is that are the fake coins meant only for collectors or are they meant for circulation also....

Finally, the listing of the item has been removed from eBay after your thread  ;D...
