Title: Luxembourg 2020: Bistorta officinalis
Post by: Bimat on May 07, 2020, 07:43:19 AM
This year's €5 collector coin from "Flora and Fauna of Luxembourg" series commemorates Bistorta officinalis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bistorta_officinalis). It's nordic gold-silver bimetallic, surcharged as usual. Mintage: 3000. Issue Price: €50.

The coin was supposed to get released in April, but not issued yet, apparently because of Covid-19 situation.

That coin can now be purchased (https://eshop.bcl.lu/T/product_page/m/32/id_prod/32_20.html) - as you wrote, it costs €50. For that amount you will get the piece in an individually numbered blister pack ...

Also, the 2020 BU set (https://eshop.bcl.lu/T/product_page/m/23/id_prod/23_20.html) has been issued, with the "City of Remich" theme. The set costs €36 and includes the circulation pieces as well as the commemorative €2 coin (http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,49626.0.html) dedicated to Prince Henri of Orange-Nassau who was "governor" of Luxembourg.

Thanks for the update - was about to post the same!

The silver-nordic gold collector coin is definitely in my wish list. :) Never collected the Luxembourgish BU sets (still have couple of those from early years of introduction) before they became too expensive...
