Title: UK 2 Pound 1998 what is the 1+

Hi All

I got couple of 2 pound 1998 coins. I see a slight difference in the edge. one has a + and another 1+

What is the meaning ?

It is not well centered and has no function. Maybe a slightly damaged collar.

Maybe my eyes deceive me, but to me, the thing looks en relief, not incuse. That can only happen in the mint.

Not entirely. To me it looks like damage where a sharp hard object has made a hole but forced the surrounding metal up. Try getting a metal punch. The displaced metal has to go somewhere.
