Title: Akbar. Dam. Merta. AH 989. Q: Where is Merta
Post by: asm on March 12, 2013, 07:06:46 AM
A dam of Merta, AH 989.

I was under the impression that the Merta on these coins is the place called Mirath or Meerut in Uttar Predesh not very far from Delhi. Yesterday, I saw a response from two gentlemen on the FB group who mention this is not the Mirath or Meerut in Uttar Predesh but a place in Rajasthan where there is evidence of Mughal activity around the time these coins are dated.

Plese help.
