The funny building below the UNESCO logo is the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Many Parisians, especially those looking for a spot to park their car in the area, wish it would go away.
Peter
... while others probably wish that the cars would somehow go away. ;D
That is a series, by the way, depicting various Unesco heritage sites from all over the world. Always with the same obverse. This is the 2009 issue, with the Kremlin in Moscow for example.

Here's an Indian issue:

Did I write "same obverse"? Well, this year they start using a new obverse - still with the Unesco HQ building, but it is somewhat abstract or stylized now. On the other side, the castle in Versailles, with a sun (reference to Louis XIV) above. You can also see a "map" of the park, and a Neptune silhouette (from the Bassin de Neptune) below.
(Edit) Forgot to mention that the bricks and the leaves on the obverse refer to the two "kinds" of World Heritage sites: cultural and natural heritage. Oh, and whoever sees a swastika in that wall has a wicked imagination. ;D

We should also add that the French Unesco pieces have prices well above the face value.
The 1989 coin however was a circulating 5 francs commem; the other side is nice too.
Shows the "feet" of the Eiffel Tower, sort of.

I am pretty sure it is a top down view. There is a bottom up view (at night) in Panoramio.
