Malwa sultan, M45, Mahmud shah-I, AE Quarter falus

A tiny quarter falus of Mahmud-I. The weight confuses me a bit! It is neither 1gm or 0.5gm to suit quarter or one eighth falus!!! Exact weight is 0.76gm.

One of a (small?) lot? I like how well it is preserved. I imagine this is more or less what they looked like when they had just been struck. It takes a collector who can read and identify them to show their value.

Here I have tried an overlay with another broad-flan coin for comparison.

Thank you, drnsreedhar. Once you have - Plant in hand - mastered reading machine-struck Arabic coins, this type of coin is excellent to start practising on older texts. This will be another great addition from your hand to the index of coins with an overlay, our low-threshold collection of education material for those who want to learn how to read coins in Arabic script.

Thanks a lot Peter. You reminded me of those days when I was struggling with the legends on coins. 8)
