Small, single-decked merchantman, around 1630.

An intermediate type between a carrack (square stern, built up fo'c's'le) and a flute (round stern, flat bow deck.)

A barque at anchor in sheltered water. See this article, containing a sketch that may well have been the model for the design.

I wonder who tossed Nicholas Lowry overboard.

One day I saw a coin on which were the names, which coincided with the names of several islands that I was looking for. The coin says:

Bruny  D'Entrecasteaux  Recherche

In September 1791, the French Assembly decided to send an expedition in search of Jean-François de La Pérouse. Bruni d'Entrecasteaux was selected to command this expedition. He was given a frigate, Recherche (500 tons).

As a result, they discovered and named the islands:

D'Entrecasteaux Islands (Papua New Guinea)
Bruny Island (Tasman Sea)
Recherche Archipelago (Western Australia)

Thus the coin bears the names of the islands and archipelagos that have names in connection with this expedition.

"Recherche" (ex-La Truite) is a frigate. The design of the coin is clearly copied from a painting by Roux, reproduced here, except that the second frigate of the expidition, l'Espérance (ex-La Durance) was scandalously replaced by an oversized rock. In fact, L'Espérance contributed much to the success of the expedition and had a bay named after her.
