Coin 1

Ashmaka Janapada, Half Karshapana, 1.24g, ABCC type, 500-350 BC

The ABCC symbol type refers to one pair of identical symbols usually placed opposite to each other and 2 other separate symbols. In this coin, the pair consists of a central taurine symbol surrounded by punches of 2 swimming fish, 2 triskeles and 2 circles. The separate symbols consists of an elephant and a leaf.

Coin 2

Andhra Janapada, Half Karshapana, 1.61g, ABCC type, 500-350 BC

In this coin, the pair symbol is a geometric pattern 'star' with an elephant and leaf symbol comprising the other separate punches.

Coins of half-karshapana denomination are usually considered rarer than the full Karshapana unit.
