Aarhus Kongsvang/Aarhus Viby-Aarhus, Denmark token. White Metal. 19mm. Both Smith (10 CF) and Somod (212) list as brass with centerhole. I do have an unpunched brass token. I don't see any reference to a white metal token.

If a specialist like you doesn't find it in his own library, do you think mere mortals have an answer? If it were, say, a Belgian token I would accept it unhesitatingly as a discovery token, as Belgian tokens have not been extensively catalogued. Don't know how well Danish tokens are catalogued.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Smith proposes that the brass one with a central hole is a pattern.

Unless the bus companies had a service sharing arrangement in place, it is probable that the company making the tokens produced mules of different combinations to advertise the range of what it could do, which would make them rare.

For transport, pretty well.

Is the token definitely solid "white metal" or could it be plated over brass?

There are several cases in Sweden of transport companies plating tokens to differentiate them at a fare rise. Just wondered if this might have happened here.

But I agree it's unusual to find a Danish transport token, plated or not, that is missing from all the literature.

I thought of plating but considered it too far-fetched (expensive), but if there are precedents, it becomes an option. Chances are that if it is plating, you may find that the inside of the central hole is not well covered with the metal.

Somod lists it a a regular issue token. Somod 212. Brass.

Pictures of the buses are below;

Kongsvang is the area of Viby closest to Aarhus. Rosenvang is close to the centre of Viby (Google maps).
