Lucas Aardenburg (1897-1975) came from a market gardener's family in Langendijk. In 1918, he became director of the Beverwijk office of the Trade Council. In 1923 he started a forage trade. In 1929 he started a canning factory in Hoogeveen he named after himself, but also had a chicken slaughterhouse and a vegetable drying company. However, it was the canning factory that flourished. In 1952, the company expanded into deep frozen products. In 1954, the company had 180 employees. By 1960, that number had risen to 290. The factory was bought in that year by Anglo-Dutch food giant Unilever, where the company was made part of deep frozen food producer Iglo. The Aardenburg family remained involved. In 1966, production of canned food was stopped. EU integration brought increased competition from low wage areas. The Hoogeveen facility was closed and the land re-developed for housing.

Note the resemblence of this token and the Hoogovens tokens. Since there is no connection between the companies, they must have used the same brand of coffee machines.
