In 1964, the "Stichting voor Middelbaar Technisch Onderwijs op basis van samenwerking voor de IJmond en het Haarlems gebied" (foundation for secondary technical education based on co-operation for the IJmond and Haarlem region) was established by the municipalities of Haarlem, Velsen and Heemskerk as well as representatives of employees, employers, public, protestant and catholic educational institutions. This foundation founded a school on Roos en Beeklaan in Santpoort in 1968 (foto). At that time, it was the largest of its kind in the country.

After the reforms of 1968, the school was merged to form IJmond college, adding streams for nautical and laboratory education. This school was merged into Nova College in Haarlem around 1976. Nevertheless, the number of pupils continually diminished, making parts its building a temporary shelter for other institutions. The building on Roos en Beeklaan was demolished in 2011. The land was redeveloped.
