Duiven is a town near the German border. It was acquired by the Netherlands, at the time the Kingdom of Holland, with a Bonaparte king, only in 1808. It was retroceded to Prussia in 1813. However, the Vienna Congress restored Duiven to the Netherlands in 1816. The town has a population of about 25 000. Gemeente is municipality.
