Darwen is a large town in Lancashire, now in the borough of Blackburn with Darwen. The corporation took over the network of Blackburn & Over Darwen Corporation Tramways within the Darwen boundary on 1 January 1899. Tram services ended on 5 October 1946. The buses continued to be operated and were eventually absorbed by Blackburn & Darwen in 1974.
