While there is no indication on the token that it was used for rural bus transport, its denomination is a strong indicator that this was its intended use. It may date from the late 1960s and be a concessionary token, though this is usually indicated on tokens of this period. Up to 1968, district councils were not involved in public transport pricing and did not issue transport tokens. In 1971, the UK changed over to decimal coins.
