West Benhar had established a branch by 1900. In 1967 the society opened a new small supermarket in Whitburn to service the growing population in Whitburn[1]. This society merged with West Lothian in 1969.
WHITBURN CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY 1934-1939
The society was formed in November 1934 and regsitered in December[2]. The society was based in the old town hall, which they converted into a shop. The store was at first rented then purchased in 1937.
