NEWBURGH & DISTRICT CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY 1903-1960

The society was formed in 1903.

The society joined to Cupar in 1960.

NEWBURGH & MOUNT PLEASANT BAKING SOCIETY 1862-1990

Mount Pleasant is the area of Newburgh south of the railway.

The society was formed in 1862. The bakery shop was opened in February 1863[1]. At it's peak the society had a permenant shop and temporary shop in Newburgh with a travelling van[2]

In May 1990 the society had an urgent requirement for a baker confectioner. The shop was closed in September and society went into volountary liquidation in December 1990. The shop being offerd for sale in 1992 and the liquidation completed in 1993.
