KELSO CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY 1875-1973
The society was formed in 1875 as the Kelso Co-operative Store Society. In 1880 the society had bought ground in Union Street and the ground in Roxburgh Street and was organising to build on them[1] In 1925 the society had three stores:- the head office with grocery and bakery store in Union Street, the butchery in the Square and a large hardware and tailoring store in Roxburgh Street[2].
The society united with Selkirk in 1973 to form Selkirk & Kelso based in Selkirk.
