DUNDEE EQUITABLE CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY

This society was started in 1862. In January 1863 it agreed to adopt the Rochdale principles and by JUly had opened a store at 141 Seagate. In 1865 they opened a branch in Hilltown. In May 1867 there was a call to windup the company and in July the liqudator was suing a member for 18 shillings due on a share.

DUNDEE CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION

This company was started in 1873. It was the first of the two main co-operatives in Dundee. It was also known as Dundee West. It failed in 1881.

DUNDEE EAST CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY

This company was started in 1873, six months later than Dundee Co-operative Association. To distinguish itself from the other co-operative, it took the name Dundee East, which is where it started.
