Accessories for coin collecting
« on: May 20, 2011, 06:30:56 AM »
Dear All,
There should be one separate section for accessories required for coins collectors like coin holders, magnifying glass, scale, weighing instrument. I need to know which magnifying glass should I buy, and more importantly from WHERE in Bombay??

There's a board for cleaning, conservation and storage of coins here. Subjects like weighing instruments, magnifying glasses etc can be discussed here. There are already some discussions on coin holders, weighing instruments, scales on the boards I mentioned.

As for getting magnifying glass in Mumbai: I don't know exactly but I always see a couple of suppliers of those in coin shows. I believe they are not from Mumbai.

All good stationery shops keep magnifying glasses. The one I am using is shown in the image here. It is suitable for veiwing coins, as it has a small magnifier in-built with 10X magnifying power, alongwith a LED light for better viewing. As far as I remember, I purchased this for about 200-250 rupees.

A similar looking Magnifying glass is available on ebay for Rs. 99 in Mumbai only. But I doubt it has 10X magnifier in it. Here is the link:
