I am starting this thread with a hope that other members will continue adding similar error notes.

Highly improbable error occurs  in modern period at Czech republic  banknotes. The banknotes of series 1993 were printed somewhere abroad ( may  be Canada).

The same company also printed banknotes for Republique of Zaire. By chance, printer did take security protection band from Zaire  banknote and put it in Czech republic banknote. This error unnoticed by printer was delivered to  country and there some collector or dealer discovered it. And now this banknote is worth a lot (about 5000 USD or so).

I have found on web the following pictures:

Front - 200 Kč banknote depicting Jan Amos Komenský (a Czech reformer and "teacher of nations"):

Back side:

And the detail of a control band:

Looking forward for "incredible bank note errors"

I'm mainly replying because someone was a little worried there were no replies  ;D

This sort of error is a little weird, i'd like to see ones where they put George III instead of Washington on the 1 dollar bill, or something like that!

augsburger ,

So kind of you reading this post and sharing your views.

Cheers ;D

Here are two Zimbabwean error banknotes; but they aren't very 'incredible' so as to say. You can get them for $10 or so (If you know where to look out for them ;)). (Images taken from e-bay)

Zimbabwe $500 Wide OVD strip, RG Prefix:

Zimbabwe $500 Wide OVD Strip, PV Prefix: (Comparatively commoner than RG Prefix)

:o   What is the error on the Zimbawean bank notes?    :-[

Bimat

Look at the wider OVD strip. :) Usually it is very thin (less than 3 mm)..

I don't know much about banknotes either. :-X I have recently started collecting them and have very few (10 or so), mostly polymers and some Costa Rican banknotes of 1920s in UNC. I happened to find the Zimbabwean error while surfing on e-bay so posted it here. 8)
