They're not on ebay, so it doesn't count. Wouldn't expect to see them until xmas shopping time really, that is when 50ps are used more!

Seems to be the only person selling these coins, and he has most of them, and selling them for a premium, those who buy them are stupid as they will be down to £1 by xmas.

It is possible he has merely got a contact somewhere where these coins are stored, they were made more than a year ago.

Football is coming out later, though this guy thinks tennis is football, er, you what?

There are 11, which means 27 are out, football and one other, which one? were always coming out later, I think the football one they wanted later to go with Euro 2012 fever!!

Not stupid... more impatient.
So far, I've only found one olympic 50p in my change!
the others I had to pay a premium for.
I'll not buy these though 'till I can get them in mint bags.

There were people who paid more for circulated coins than those they could buy from the Royal Mint, I don't really understand it. Even if I am impatient, I'd still wait a few weeks just to get them cheaper!

I sometimes get paid to talk about this interesting phenomenon. One of the problems of economic theory is the assumption of "homo economicus", everyone is rational and works in his own best interest. Not so. Humans are much more complicated. The theory of homo economicus would be hard pressed to explain the amount of time we put into WoC.

One alternative theory that may apply here is benchmarking. It goes like this: "this coin sold on eBay £2 four weeks ago, I am offering it for £1." The brain responds with: cheap. It does not respond with : price trend is down, check price on Royal Mint web site or wait for further price cut. The "buy it now" button is only one click away...

WH Smiths in Edinburgh are selling these in BU at 3 for 2.  Works out at £2 a pop without postage or a blemish, so the ebay rate is ridiculous, unless someone was wanting to complete the set.  It is still more than I would pay and I'm happy to take my chances and wait to get them in my change.  Have about 14 different coins and lots of duplicates from my change at this stage.  Look forward to trying to find the others.

Got my first 20p this week and saw a 2011 1p in a waitress's tip jar.  I didn't ask to swap...

For the 50p (although I have a full set) I'm looking for the following (for various collectors)
Cycling x3
Badminton x3
Archery x2
Goalball x2
Athletics x2
Boccia x1

Any help appreciated!

Sending @andyg the following, so if he is collecting for you, you should receive the missing ones.

Cycling x 3
Badminton x 3
Goalball x 2
Boccia x 1

Once those have gone, I have the following spares if anyone else is required.
Goalball, Boccia, Gymnastics and Cycling  (3 or more of each)
Swimming, Triathlon and Canoeing x 1 each

let me know if you need anything else.

Out of the first 16, I am looking for rowing(thanks @andyg) and archery

It could just be a difference between the BU and circulation versions.....

£199 is still cheap. I know another British dealer who's asking £250 (buy it now price) for the same error.. :o

Seems a little weird. The big coin of the swimming coin has the lines on the face, and surely those coins available at that time have this too. Also a smack in the face for a head designer of the mint who gave every designer a talk about how they wanted to stick to the original designs because otherwise it would be pointless. And they then go and do exactly this!

Saved the illustrations for posterity.

1 - OK
2 - error

2 isn't an error! It was the original design! I wonder how many of these coins were actually made? They may not be as rare as we think! The large coin used to present the coin is the original!
