Canada, 1 cent sketch.

From the book "Striking Impressions: The Royal Canadian Mint and Canadian Coinage", by James A Haxby.

Notice how a couple of the denominations are different from those on the final designs.

NOTE: The 1 cent, 50 cent and 50 cent designs were by English designer George Kruger-Gray.

The 10 and 25 cent designs were by Emmanuel Hahn.

Artist Emanuel Hahn also designed two other alternatives for the 25 cents coin.

They featured a polar bear and a Canada goose. His designs are seen above.

It is interesting that he abbreviated 'cents' to 'cts.' on one of those designs.

In 2018 the Royal Canadian Mint issued a special set of collector coins.

It was based on Hahn's unadopted designs.
